I am trying to create a Vercel account, but stuck at the SMS verification step. SMS verification isn’t enabled for Sri Lanka, preventing me from signing up.
Any solution for this?

Are you able to try signing up via your git provider such as GitHub? Here are their docs on creating an account: Create an Account
I tried signing up via GitHub, but it still requires mobile verification, which isn’t available in Sri Lanka.
Hmm, this may be due to some extra protections Vercel has set up on their end. My next step would probably be to reach out to them via the email listed here:
Login — If you are unable to log in or experience difficulties during registration, please email registration@vercel.com and include the details of the project you are looking to deploy with Vercel. To protect against platform abuse, Vercel employs multiple layers of security and verification during the account signup process.
I had the same issue a long time ago. I also contacted support and asked if I could sign up without a phone number, since I was already using 2FA GitHub. Support said no.
I tried a long time later and created an account with no problem, so I guess they must have turned SMS verification off? And apparently, it’s on again…
Yeah I didn’t need SMS on when I signed up via GitHub whenever that was. My guess is there may be certain restrictions in place based on location/region to help with fraud prevention.
For Sri Lankan users: You should create your account using a GitHub account. However, even when using GitHub, you may sometimes be asked to verify your account with a phone number — and Sri Lankan phone numbers are not supported. Therefore, you should register with a different GitHub account.
Hello,
Please send us an email to registration@vercel.com using your registered email so we can take a closer look.
Yep, that worked for me. I used a different GitHub account, and it didn’t ask for mobile verification. Thank you!
