# Fixing SSL certificate error when removing a domain from a deleted Vercel project

Hi,

I’m trying to reassign the domain `stock.cutmy` to a new project on my Hobby account, but I’m unable to do so.

**The situation:**

* I had a project using this domain
* I deleted the project, but not the domain
* I now have a new project that I want to assign this domain to
* When I try to remove the domain (to reassign it), I get the error:

```bash
SSL Certificates provided by the system cannot be deleted
```

* The SSL certificate appears to be valid until March

**What I need:** I’d like to either reassign this domain to my new project, or have the SSL certificate released so I can remove and re-add the domain myself.

Could someone from Vercel please help resolve this?

Thank you!

The domain troubleshooting guide can help with most custom domain configuration issues. You might be able to use that guide to solve it before a human is available to help you. Then you can come back here and share the answer for [bonus points](https://community.vercel.com/t/introducing-the-vercel-leaderboard/1358).

You can also use [v0](https://v0.dev/) to narrow down the possibilities.
