[▲ Vercel Community](/) · [Categories](/categories) · [Latest](/latest) · [Top](/top) · [Live](/live) [Help](/c/help/9) # Fixing SSL certificate error when removing a domain from a deleted Vercel project 38 views · 0 likes · 2 posts Josh Cutmy (@josh-cutmy) · 2026-01-16 Hi, I’m trying to reassign the domain `stock.cutmy` to a new project on my Hobby account, but I’m unable to do so. **The situation:** * I had a project using this domain * I deleted the project, but not the domain * I now have a new project that I want to assign this domain to * When I try to remove the domain (to reassign it), I get the error: ```bash SSL Certificates provided by the system cannot be deleted ``` * The SSL certificate appears to be valid until March **What I need:** I’d like to either reassign this domain to my new project, or have the SSL certificate released so I can remove and re-add the domain myself.
