I’m on Hobby and would appreciate clarification from Vercel staff on how Deployment Storage is counted after deletion. The support assistant directed me here because technical usage/accounting escalation was unavailable.
Observations and cleanup
- Team Deployment Storage initially showed 10.31 GB / 10 GB.
- September 15, 2026: deleted 50 old deployments from well-done-stake, preserving current production.
- A subsequent overview briefly displayed 0 B. I do not know whether this was a loading/reporting issue.
- September 16, before the Demo cleanup: the team Projects breakdown showed 10.19 GB total: well-done-stake 7.38 GB, well-done-stake-demo 2.09 GB, and other projects approximately 0.72 GB.
- September 16: also deleted 25 old Demo deployments, leaving its seven newest builds and preserving the live Demo. That makes 75 manual deletions total; I have not yet established the storage effect of the second cleanup.
- WDS retention categories were already set to one day, although I understand documented exceptions can retain deployments longer.
Conflicting guidance
The deletion dialog says: “Deployments that are not actively receiving any traffic do not generate any costs nor count towards any limits.” The storage documentation describes retained build outputs consuming storage, so does that notice only refer to traffic/compute quotas?
The support assistant first described a 30-day recovery window after deletion, then claimed a mandatory 30-day storage floor from the original creation date. When asked for the exact source, it acknowledged that public documentation does not explicitly establish that floor. I am treating that explanation as unverified.
Questions
- Does the Hobby 10 GB limit apply to current stored bytes, a daily peak, or GB-month usage aggregated over a period? How does the selected dashboard date range affect the displayed number versus enforcement?
- Do deployments in Recently Deleted continue contributing to the enforced storage limit?
- When should manual deletion reduce that usage? Is there actually a minimum counted lifetime from creation, or a period after deletion?
- Is the deletion dialog’s statement outdated or intended only for traffic-based quotas?
I’ve reviewed the Deployment Storage and Deployment Retention documentation. I can provide screenshots and example deployment IDs if useful. I’m looking for the accounting rule and a way to verify cleanup’s effect, rather than assuming the temporary zero meant the issue was resolved. Thank you.
