# How to recover or transfer a Vercel project when account access is lost

## Problem
I no longer have access to the `Vercel` account that owns this project. I only have access to the `GitHub` repo and need to regain access or transfer the project to a new account.

## Current vs Expected Behavior
*   **Current:** Deployments fail with the following error:
> **Error: Git author must have access to the project on Vercel**
*   **Expected:** I can access/transfer the `Vercel` project to my new account.

## Steps / Notes
1.  I control the `GitHub` repository (can provide commit hashes/screenshots).
2.  No custom domain is attached.
3.  The team slug in the URL seems to be `vitoleonardos-projects`.

## Request
Please help recover the account or transfer the project to a new `Vercel` account.

Hi @viktorkrawutschke-47, welcome to the Vercel Community!

If you've the repository you can just spin up a new project in your Vercel account (even in a new one).

If you want to take any action on the existing project, you must follow the https://vercel.com/accountrecovery process to regain access.
