I am experiencing intermittent DNS resolution failures for finriskmgt.org and www.finriskmgt.org, which are hosted on Vercel.
The failure occurs on multiple devices and networks and produces ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED / DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN. At other times, both domains load normally.
Squarespace Domains has investigated the registrar/DNS side and confirmed:
- The domain is active.
- The four authoritative nameservers are correctly configured: ns-cloud-b1.googledomains.com ns-cloud-b2.googledomains.com ns-cloud-b3.googledomains.com ns-cloud-b4.googledomains.com
- The A and CNAME records are propagating.
- Their nameservers are responding normally.
- DNSSEC is disabled, so a DNSSEC validation failure does not appear to explain the NXDOMAIN errors.
Vercel's automated diagnostics also confirmed:
- finriskmgt.org points to Vercel.
- www.finriskmgt.org CNAME points to
55a886440e9982c4.vercel-dns-017.com. - HTTPS returns HTTP 200 when DNS resolves.
- The SSL certificate is valid.
I also tested the www domain directly against Google (8.8.8.8), Cloudflare (1.1.1.1), Quad9 (9.9.9.9), and my ISP DNS resolver, and all returned the Vercel target successfully during testing. Despite this, the website has intermittently returned NXDOMAIN, including on cellular connections and on devices outside my local network.
One potentially relevant item identified by Vercel's diagnostic assistant is that the domain currently shows a renewPeriod registry status following its recent renewal.
Could someone from Vercel please help determine why the domain intermittently becomes unresolvable even though both the authoritative DNS configuration and Vercel configuration appear healthy? In particular, I would appreciate guidance on whether the Vercel domain assignment, CNAME target, edge routing, or the renewPeriod status could contribute to these intermittent failures.
