I am a maintainer of [is-a-dev](https://www.is-a.dev), a free subdomain service. We are registered with the PSL and our users want to connect their is-a-dev domains with Vercel however, when we try to add a is-a-dev subdomain to Vercel, it says that another account is already using the domain, and asks us to create a _vercel.is-a.dev TXT record, which is not possible for us as then only one person would be able to do that at a time. When we previously contacted Vercel regarding this, [we were told](https://github.com/orgs/vercel/discussions/5825#discussioncomment-8471153) that is-a-dev would need to register with the PSL, which we have done now. We want each user to be able to use Vercel on their subdomain (example.is-a.dev). I request you to help us regarding this matter. Regards Vaibhav Dhiman Maintainer @ is-a-dev William Harrison (@williamharrison) · 2024-09-06 · ♥ 5 I'm the one who originally applied is-a.dev for the Public Suffix List in this PR: https://github.com/publicsuffix/list/pull/1949 I believe Vercel has a very significant lag time for pulling from the PSL as we were added 5 months ago and it is still requiring verification at the root. It would be good if Vercel could setup an automated function to auto pull the PSL file at https://publicsuffix.org/list/public_suffix_list.dat every week or so in order to prevent issues like this. CuteDog5695 (@cutedog5695) · 2024-09-06 · ♥ 4 One thing I want to point out is we've asked before in the org in this [discussion](https://github.com/orgs/vercel/discussions/7005), but it got locked without an answer. We've tried to also contact via a tweet (don't have the link since it got deleted) which as far as I recall we have also not gotten a response there. William Harrison (@williamharrison) · 2024-09-06 · ♥ 3 This is pretty much the same issue as https://community.vercel.com/t/txt-verfication/597. In addition to is-a.dev this happens to other users of the following subdomain services which are listed on the PSL as well: - https://github.com/open-domains/register - https://github.com/is-a-good-dev/register If possible adding full support for the PSL to Vercel would be amazing and would help many subdomain providers that are listed there. Basically allowing subdomains of domains listed on the PSL to be used across many user accounts without verification of the root domain. This functionality is already included in other services similar to Vercel such as Netlify. Shadowgaming100 (@shadowgaming100) · 2024-09-06 Hello, there was a recently pull for public suffix list as i requested for the same issue for open domains https://community.vercel.com/t/txt-verfication/597 William Harrison (@williamharrison) · 2024-09-06 I believe they actually just added a manual override for that specific domain for your account(s) based off what I saw in the issue. Shadowgaming100 (@shadowgaming100) · 2024-09-06 No, I asked one person to test it and it worked then made a pull request Shadowgaming100 (@shadowgaming100) · 2024-09-06 https://github.com/open-domains/register/pull/1504 This is one of the pull request William Harrison (@williamharrison) · 2024-09-06 Oh, my bad then. However it does seem that override was only for is-cool.dev, not the other domains run by Open Domains or the ones listed on the PSL. Shadowgaming100 (@shadowgaming100) · 2024-09-06 Np, glad could clear the confusion @vaibhavsys can you fix the domain name is written as is-a-dev CuteDog5695 (@cutedog5695) · 2024-09-06 Seems normal to me, since it has a hyperlink which when you click on it goes to `https://www.is-a.dev`. Also to be fair I don't think its that big of a problem that it doesn't have a dot. Vaibhav Dhiman (@vaibhavsys) · 2024-09-06
can you fix the domain name is written as is-a-dev
If you are talking about the title, I believe that it is automatically capitalized Amy Egan (@amyegan) · 2024-09-06 · ♥ 6 Thanks for letting us know. I'm opening a new ticket to make sure our list is updated. Vaibhav Dhiman (@vaibhavsys) · 2024-09-07 · ♥ 2 Thank you for the prompt response and action! We hope that we will get an update soon. William Harrison (@williamharrison) · 2024-09-10 @amyegan Hey, no rush, but I was wondering if there are any updates internally? Thanks! Amy Egan (@amyegan) · 2024-09-10 · ♥ 2 I don't have any real news yet, but I have a ticket open and one of our engineers will update our list soon. Thanks for waiting. I'll post another update when I have more info. Amy Egan (@amyegan) · 2024-09-13 · ♥ 3 Vercel's list is updated! :tada: ~~The process to verify a subdomain now should be similar to the steps at [https://www.is-a.dev/docs/github-pages-verification/](https://www.is-a.dev/docs/github-pages-verification/)~~ *Updated to add new documentation link:* You can set up your subdomain using the steps at [docs.is-a.dev/guides/vercel](https://docs.is-a.dev/guides/vercel/) William Harrison (@williamharrison) · 2024-09-14 This is great news, thank you. One question, will Vercel continuing pulling the PSL on a regular basis (i.e. weekly)? William Harrison (@williamharrison) · 2024-09-14 I just checked it out, is-a.dev works however, another domain that is listed on the PSL still requires verification of the root domain: Is Vercel able to support *all* domains listed on the PSL? That would be much better in future. Vaibhav Dhiman (@vaibhavsys) · 2024-09-14 · ♥ 1 Thank you for the quick resolution! :tada: William Harrison (@williamharrison) · 2024-09-19 @amyegan Are you able to confirm this? Or is Vercel only adding domains on a case by case basis as it seems they are not officially supporting the PSL as I have tried other domains on the PSL and they are not working like is-a.dev now is. Amy Egan (@amyegan) · 2024-09-19 · ♥ 1 Thanks for checking on this. I believe it's case-by-case for the moment. But I asked the team about it and I'll let you know when I learn more. William Harrison (@williamharrison) · 2024-09-25 @amyegan Are you able to add `is-a-good.dev` as an exception too, it is also listed on the PSL and experiencing the same verification issues. Amy Egan (@amyegan) · 2024-09-27 · ♥ 1 The team confirmed that updates are manual for now. I'll open a PR to get `is-a-good.dev` added for you Amy Egan (@amyegan) · 2024-09-27 · ♥ 2 The PR was merged :raised_hands: You should be able to use `is-a-good.dev` domains now. Please let me know if you run into any trouble with it
