I want to flag a billing experience that cost me $20 and, from what support tells me, cannot be undone.
Last week I needed to put a password on a single private page, a one page document for my own use. I enabled Password Protection on one project, sisespjimr, on a Pro team. It was enabled for about one day, used only by me, and the project has since been deleted.
The part I want to raise as product feedback:
When Password Protection is enabled through the REST API, by PATCHing a project with passwordProtection, there is no price shown, no confirmation and no warning that this is a paid add on at $20 per month per project. It returns 200 and the charge appears later on the invoice. Vercel Authentication, which is included on Pro, is set through the same field shape on the same endpoint, so the free option and the $20 option look identical at the point of use. The charge is the full monthly amount for the add on and is not prorated for a project that existed for a day, and support says add on charges are non refundable as a matter of policy, even where the project no longer exists and nothing was served to anyone but the account owner.
Two requests:
A one time credit of the $20 in this case. It was one day, one project, one user, on an add on enabled without ever being shown a price. More usefully for everyone else: show the price in the API response or docs warning for passwordProtection, and prorate or allow a grace window for add ons cancelled within the first few days. A paid feature that can be switched on silently by an API call, with a free feature sitting next to it in the same field, is going to keep catching people.
