I’m having a very frustrating issue while trying to add my custom domain `selena.bot.cd` to my Vercel project。
What I did so far:
1. I added the required TXT verification record (`_vercel.selena.bot.cd`) and the CNAME record (`selena`) at my registrar, as instructed by Vercel.2. I verified that the TXT record has propagated globally using public DNS checkers (e.g., whatsmydns.net) – it shows the correct value.3. I also turned off WHOIS privacy protection for the domain.4. I’ve tried removing/re-adding the domain multiple times.
The problem:
When I try to add `selena.bot.cd` to my project, I get the error:
> "This domain is linked to another Vercel account."
I’m the rightful owner of this domain.
The weird part (and why I think this might be a Vercel bug):
I tried the “Claim Domain Ownership” flow (Connect External). However, instead of asking me to verify `selena.bot.cd`, the dashboard shows:
> “Add the following TXT record to your DNS configuration for `bot.cd`”
It asks me to add a TXT record for the domain `bot.cd`, which I do NOT own. My domain is `selena.bot.cd`, not `bot.cd`. The displayed value is something like `vc-domain-verify=bot.cd, ...` – but I cannot add that because I don’t control `bot.cd`.
I have attached a screenshot of the Vercel UI showing this clearly. What I have tried:
- Used the “Connect External” option from the Domains dashboard.
- Followed the instructions exactly, but the record name and domain mismatch prevents verification.
- Searched the community but didn’t find a similar case for `bot.cd` specifically.
My questions:
- Has anyone else experienced a similar issue with a two‑part TLD (like `bot.cd`, `com.au`, etc.) where Vercel incorrectly strips the subdomain?
- Is there any workaround I can try, apart from waiting for support?
- Could someone from Vercel help me manually unlink the domain from the previous account?

why bot.cd ?
