# Why Vercel AI Gateway uses independent API keys instead of global account tokens

Hello, as the title says, I see in the `AI Gateway` documentation that the `API Key` needs to be generated when the call request is made, and here the `API Key` is designed independently instead of using the `token` in the account settings.
