As described at API Keys , when the creator of an API Key leaves a team, the key becomes inactive. However, other than this line in the docs, there doesn’t seem to be any other indication that this happens. For example, in the API Keys list, these inactive keys belonging to an ex-member are still listed and still show a badge saying “Active” on them. So until you find this line in the docs, it’s hard to know why a key has suddenly stopped working.
It would be really useful if:
- other team members were alerted when this happens - compare the equivalent case when the creator of a Vercel integration leaves and an email is sent around that it’s been deactivated
- the keys showed some indication that they’ve been deactivated in the API Keys list
