Hi Vercel Community and AI Gateway team,
I am a student using Vercel AI Gateway for coursework, research, and design work. My team was recently blocked with the following error:
This team is blocked from using AI Gateway. If you believe this is a mistake, contact support at https://vercel.com/help. Include request id wqw62-1792244603372-ae4d6d654fa1.
I opened a support ticket, and the response was: "The AI Gateway team has suspended your team's use of AI Gateway due to suspected abuse, and this block cannot be removed. Our support team is unable to review, override, or lift this suspension."
The core issue is the contradiction between the "suspected abuse" flag and my actual usage.
Since registering, my lifetime AI Gateway spend is less than $2. If I had been abusing the service, I would have exhausted the allowance within days. A low, steady usage pattern of under $2 is the clearest possible evidence of normal, non-abusive activity. Other users have reported the exact same scenario—minimal usage (sometimes under $0.20) followed by an immediate permanent block with no human review.
The support team states the decision is final and there is no appeal path, but the error message itself instructs users to contact support "if you believe this is a mistake". This creates a dead end: the automated system acknowledges the possibility of a mistake, but no human is authorized to check.
I am not asking for the block to be automatically lifted. I am asking for one specific thing: a manual review by a member of the AI Gateway team to check whether this specific team/request ID was a false positive. If the flag was correct, I will accept the outcome. But given the usage evidence, a permanent team-level block based solely on an opaque automated signal—with no disclosed trigger and no human verification—is disproportionate and impossible to resolve.
Team/Request details:
Request ID: wqw62-1792244603372-ae4d6d654fa1
Usage: <$2 lifetime
Account type: Student / individual
Rest of Vercel platform: Unaffected (only AI Gateway is blocked)
Could someone from the AI Gateway team please take a look? Thank you.
