I'm a solo founder building a field-service platform on Vercel Pro. This month my bill went from about $40 a week to $420 a week. Almost all of it was Vercel Agent Code Reviews (Beta): about $577 between Sep 25 and Oct 26, including $202 in a single day.
What happened:
- Every push to every pull request triggered an automatic AI review, billed on-demand at $0.13 to $2.14 each.
- The Code Reviews switch in Team Settings → Agent shows no price. The only hint is a small line saying "Additional paid Vercel Agent usage is billed on-demand" after a $0 prepaid credit.
- No email warned me while the charges climbed about 10x, and no spending cap was on by default.
- In its last 12 hours it cost $102 and made 6 suggestions. Most reviews found nothing.
Below is what my Agent settings looked like when I found this: Chat, Code Reviews and Investigations all on.
When I asked support for help, the assistant said "support cases cannot be opened for this topic on the Pro plan" because it's a beta. It pointed me to a per-invoice refund form and to this forum. There's no phone support and no person to talk to.
I've turned off Chat, Code Reviews and Investigations. I'm asking Vercel to:
- Credit the Agent charges on my account.
- Put the price on the switch and send an email when a beta feature starts billing on-demand.
- Let paying customers reach a human about billing, beta or not.
If you use Vercel with AI coding tools that push lots of PRs, check Settings → Agent and Settings → Billing → Spend Management today, or you might get a bill like mine.
