Hi Vercel team,
My Hobby team "kkspikas-projects" received an email that it has used 100% of the Blob Advanced Operations (2,000) and will be paused on October 7, 2026. Blob Simple Operations are also at 8.6K / 10K.
This is a small, non-commercial website for a local running club (event schedule and sign-ups for club members). The usage was caused by a caching mistake on my side, not by real traffic:
- Root cause: my Next.js 16 data functions used
"use cache", which is in-memory per instance. On Vercel Functions the cache was frequently empty, so almost every page view called Bloblist()(Advanced) plus oneget()per item (Simple). - Fix (already deployed to production): switched these functions to
"use cache: remote"(Vercel Runtime Cache) with tag-based invalidation, so Blob is only read again after a write. I also removed alist()call from the sign-up flow and reduced the number of pages prerendered at build time.
With this fix, expected usage is a few hundred Advanced Operations per month, well within the Hobby limits.
Would it be possible to avoid pausing the team, or to reset/unpause Blob access, so the club's members can keep using the site? I'm happy to provide any additional details.
Thank you!
