Case #01BTdgkqgjXDKcBG, no reply in 3 days: $1,865 Build CPU Minutes from Turbo default

Hi Vercel team,

Pro team PIM SA. During the Aug 14 to Sep 14 cycle we were billed $1,865.42 of on-demand usage, 99.9% of it Build CPU Minutes, against a $200 Spend Management amount (the Billing page shows "933%"). Seven partial invoices, NXLYGLSC-0014 to 0021.

Root cause: the projects created in August and September were placed on Turbo build machines (30 vCPUs) by default. We never selected Turbo; our older projects run on Standard. The support chat confirmed it: "When new projects or accounts are created on the Pro tier, Vercel enables Elastic or Turbo build machines by default." Our builds take 20 to 30 seconds (cache restored) and were billed as a full minute on 30 cores, $0.105 each instead of $0.014 on Standard. Everything is now on Basic and the daily build cost went from $142 to nearly zero.

The self-service refund tool refuses the amount ("automatic refund limit reached"). The chat opened case #01BTdgkqgjXDKcBG on Sep 12; it has had no human reply for three days. We are asking for a re-rating of the Turbo-billed minutes at the Standard rate (about $1,630), the same treatment as in thread 37434 in April.

Could someone from the billing team pick up the case? Happy to share deployment IDs and screenshots. We have not filed any card dispute, in line with the Support Terms.

Update, September 20. Support replied on September 17 and pointed to an activity-log entry dated April 1, 2026: "updated team default build machine from Standard to Turbo", attributed to my account. I did not make that change myself; at that time an employee was using an AI coding agent with access to my Vercel token, and the setting can be changed through the REST API with an owner token. I have asked support for the timestamp, channel (API, CLI or dashboard) and IP of that event, and I have corrected my request accordingly: this is not a "Turbo default" case, it is a team-level setting with a 7.5x cost impact that was changed by a token without any confirmation or notification to the owners, and then discovered five months later on a $1,883 invoice line. No reply from support since September 17. The request remains a re-rating at Standard pricing (about $1,630). Case #01BTdgkqgjXDKcBG.
