Custom domains resolving to 216.198.79.1 intermittently timing out in Brazil

We are experiencing intermittent outages across multiple Vercel projects using custom domains in Brazil.

The affected domains resolve to Vercel edge IP 216.198.79.1. DNS resolution is working correctly, but the IP is intermittently unreachable / timing out from Brazilian networks.

Issue started around 09:00 BRT on June 11, 2026.

Symptoms:

  • Multiple unrelated Vercel projects affected
  • Domains are managed by different DNS providers, including Registro.br and Cloudflare
  • Custom domains intermittently fail or timeout
  • .vercel.app domains continue to work
  • 216.198.79.1 does not respond reliably to ping/traceroute/curl
  • This matches previous community reports from Brazil involving 216.198.79.1

Please investigate edge routing / anycast reachability issues for 216.198.79.1 affecting Brazilian traffic.

216.198.79.1 timeout / 100% packet loss
64.29.17.1 timeout / 100% packet loss

Other Vercel edge IPs work and return HTTP/2 200.

This appears to be the same routing / Anycast issue affecting custom domains in Brazil.
