Hello Vercel Team,
We are preparing a controlled security remediation for an existing Next.js application connected to GitHub.
Our requirement is zero deployment creation during the initial setup of automatic Git deployment isolation.
We plan to use:
{ "git": { "deploymentEnabled": false }}Vercel Agent stated that the first commit introducing this configuration is evaluated at webhook ingestion before any deployment record is created.
Could a Vercel staff member or engineer confirm:
- Is the first commit guaranteed to create zero deployment records, including canceled deployments?
- Does this guarantee cover both Production and Preview environments?
- Are there any exceptions or conditions that could still trigger a deployment?
- Is there an authoritative technical reference documenting the first-commit behavior?
We understand that the Ignored Build Step is not sufficient because it can still create a canceled deployment record.
This is a technical clarification request only. No configuration changes or deployments are authorized.
Thank you.
