Domain configuration

I recently deployed my Next.js website theme using Vercel and followed all the steps outlined in the documentation. However, when I visit my homepage, the website URL automatically redirects to the vercel.app address.
I would like my own domain to appear in the browser address bar instead of the vercel.app URL. How to do that in Hobby plan?

Hello @bb-5168,

Welcome to the Vercel community!

Congratulations on your first ship!

Please add a Custom Domain document for your solution.

If you’re still having trouble, I recommend visiting the guide on adding a third-party domain (hobby tier).

Hi @techchintan

I have added a new custom domain and updated the Vercel nameservers as per the documentation. I also set up a redirect from my vercel.app URL to my actual domain. However, after doing this, the theme I deployed on the vercel.app URL still does not display using my custom domain.

Could you please guide me on how to configure the setup so that the theme deployed on vercel.app correctly shows under my own domain? I want my website to appear with my domain address in the browser, rather than the vercel.app URL.

Thank you for the reply, @bb-5168

Can you share vercel.app and you domain link?

Hi @techchintan

Here is my domain link and vercel.app URL
Vercel URL: ukbusinesstimes-co-uk.vercel.app
Domain Link: ukbusinesstimes.co.uk

Hey, @bb-5168

ukbusinesstimes-co-uk.vercel.app → ukbusinesstimes.co.uk redirection is already functional.

Let me know if I am missing anything.

HI @techchintan

Yesterday, it was not redirecting, but now its working, so Thanks to you

I have one more concern. For my custom domain, I initially used Vercel’s name servers in my hosting settings.

However, we prefer to use our own hosting platform and need the website to run entirely on our own servers, not Vercel’s.

Could you please guide me on how to configure our own name servers for the custom domain while keeping the website and theme functioning correctly?

Thank you again for your continued support.

Best regards,
Balaji

Hi @techchintan

I’m currently using Vercel’s name servers, but with this setup, I’m unable to access my WordPress admin backend.

I would like to switch back to using my own hosting provider’s name servers so that everything runs fully on our hosting platform. Could you please guide me on how to properly configure this change without affecting my website’s functionality?

Thank you for your help and support.

Best regards,
Balaji
