Domain for project mysteriously stuck in "Generating SSL Certificate"

My project’s custom domains suddenly and unexpectedly started failing with net::ERR_CERT_DATE_INVALID.

  • Upon inspection, the custom domains were stuck at “Generating SSL Certificate.”
  • The vercel.app domain was still "Valid Configuration.
  • I have not made any recent updates to the Vercel project or linked Github repo. (Last update/commit was about two months ago: Jul 24th)
  • Work-around: I was able to “reboot” the SSL Certificate by removing and adding the custom domain manually. It only took a few minutes to become “Valid Configuration”
  • However, my custom domains were not working for an unknown amount of time.
  • I am not sure how to check my other projects/custom domains aside from manual inspection of each one.
  • Posting this to the forum so perhaps Vercel staff will notice.
    • I have intentionally left one of the custom domains in the “Generating SSL Certificate status.”

The domain troubleshooting guide can help with most custom domain configuration issues. You might be able to use that guide to solve it before a human is available to help you. Then you can come back here and share the answer for bonus points.

You can also use v0 to narrow down the possibilities.

I see a valid cert now! Please let me know if you still have trouble with it
