Domain purchased via Vercel stuck on clientHold

I purchased science-agent.org directly through Vercel on Oct 28, 2025, but the domain is completely unusable right now.

Current Status:

  • WHOIS shows: Registrar: Name.com, Inc. with Domain Status: clientHold

  • Nameservers: ns1.vercel-dns.com / ns2.vercel-dns.com

  • Issue: Domain is not resolving (SERVFAIL on dig commands, can’t access the site at all)

What I’ve tried:

  1. Checked Vercel dashboard → Project Settings → Domains, but found no warnings or verification prompts

  2. Searched all my email accounts (including spam) for any verification requests from Name.com or Vercel—nothing found

  3. Tried creating accounts on Name.com with my emails, but the domain doesn’t appear in any of them (I never registered directly with Name.com)

Core Problem: Since I bought the domain through Vercel, I don’t have a Name.com account. The clientHold status seems to have locked the domain entirely, and I have no way to lift it myself.

How can I resolve this and get my domain working again? Should I contact Vercel support directly?

The domain troubleshooting guide can help with most custom domain configuration issues. You might be able to use that guide to solve it before a human is available to help you. Then you can come back here and share the answer for bonus points.

You can also use v0 to narrow down the possibilities.

You should receive an email to verify your domain. I can see that your domain is accessible now. Have you verified the domain?
