Domain support for Nordic Characters Ø Æ Å

Hi Support,
we have a new customer with an existing service that uses a domain with a nordic special character: “Ø”

when we try and add a domain with this character we get an error message:
Cannot add invalid domain name “wordandø.something.com”.

Are there any plans to support these nordic characters? Ø Æ Å

Browsers support these IDN URLs just fine. You also get a non-Nordic character version of the URL automatically (punycode, looks something like wordandø.something.com”).

Things to consider:

When sharing links from the browser they might appear as their punycode on social media etc. That might look malicious to users.

Typing the URL in the browser will be hard for people not having the Nordic character on their keyboard.

When hosting email not only your server but also the server receiving your email has to support IDN URLs
