Issue: Both projects stopped creating deployments from GitHub pushes simultaneously, starting at commit 3425b561f93477cb3544b5f5481706bc7f49fa9e. Every push since then produces either no deployment or a failed deployment with the following errors:
GITHUB_AUTH_FAILED— "github authentication failed"git_info_fail— "We were unable to fetch required git information required to complete the deployment."
Manual CLI deploys via vercel deploy --prod work perfectly — correct build output, env vars intact. This confirms the build pipeline and project config are fine. The issue is specifically in GitHub → Vercel event delivery or authentication.
Troubleshooting already attempted (all unsuccessful):
- Confirmed pushes reach GitHub (
git ls-remotematches main) - Disconnected and reconnected Git integration from Vercel dashboard (Settings → Git)
- Confirmed on GitHub ( github.com/settings/installations ) that Vercel GitHub App has access to the repo
- Ran
vercel linkthenvercel git connect --yes— initially failed, then succeeded after team-level Git re-authorization, now reports "already connected" - Fully uninstalled and reinstalled the Vercel GitHub App on GitHub, re-granted repo access
- Pushed multiple test commits after each step — zero successful deployments every time
Current workaround: Deploying manually via vercel deploy --prod from local clone.
Ask: Looking for help understanding why GitHub push events aren't authenticating properly for this repo/installation, given the GitHub App reports valid access and Vercel reports the project as connected.
