Hobby Plan Account Paused - Unexpected High CPU Usage on Inactive Portfolio Project

Issue Description:

Hello Vercel Support Team,
I am writing to request the unpause of my Hobby plan account (team: omaraser93s-projects).
My account was recently paused due to unexpected high CPU usage, and I need help understanding why this occurred.

Background:
I have a portfolio project that has been deployed and running on Vercel for over 3 months
The project has been completely untouched - no code changes, no deployments, no active users
This is a simple portfolio website with minimal traffic

What Happened:
A couple of days ago, I received the following emails in sequence:
First email: “Your free team omaraser93s-projects has used 100% of the included free tier usage for Fluid Active CPU (4 hours)”
Next day: “Your free team omaraser93s-projects has used 300% of the included free tier usage for Fluid Active CPU (4 hours). Your account has been paused.”

My Concern:
I am confused and concerned because no one is actively using this website. There should be minimal to no traffic, yet somehow my CPU usage spiked dramatically and exceeded the free tier limits by 300%.

What I Need Help With:
Please Unpause my account so I can access my portfolio project again.
investigate what caused this sudden and unexpected CPU usage spike
Help me understand if there was unusual bot traffic, a configuration issue, or some other cause

This is just a personal portfolio site, and I cannot understand why it would consume so much CPU when it’s been sitting idle.
Thank you for your assistance in resolving this issue.

Hi @omaraser93!

To help our community team assist you better, could you please provide:

• Code snippets
• Error messages

If you go to the Usage tab and check the products with high usage, you should be able to see a list of projects that contributed to that.

Once you identify the project(s) and modify or delete to prevent further usage, that’ll allow the usage to fall back within included limits. If I unpause at the moment with usage still climbing, your team will get paused again by the automated checks

I already deleted the project that was causing the problem, It seems it was using next-15 version affected by the CVE-2025 problems, that’s why i deleted the project from Vercel and I already upgraded the project to latest next-16 version and pushed it to my github .

As of now the account still paused…

It has been almost three weeks now, And the account still paused!!

As I said before, I already deleted the project that was causing high CPU usage & other issues ,.. but the account still paused and I can’t upload any new projects or even update older ones … I really hope this will be solved soon because I want to stick with Vercel instead of having to move to a new platform …

Hey, @omaraser93!

Thanks for being patient with us  I’ve assigned this to myself and will work on unblocking you.

I’ll keep you updated!

You should be able to deploy now! Thank you for your patience.

Don’t forget to adhere to our Fair use Guidelines.

Unfortunately, I’m still getting :
”Your Team exceeded our fair use limits and has been blocked.“ When I try to deploy a new project, Also “Paused” badge is still there..

Perhaps, I have to wait for a day or two till It take effect? I don’t know.

I really appreciate your support and hope you check it one more time…

It looks like the system automatically paused your account again because it’s still above the Hobby usage limits. Once the metrics fall back below the limits in about 15 days, we’ll be able to un-pause your account without the system automatically pausing it again.
