Hello Vercel Community,
I would appreciate clarification on whether our use case is eligible for Vercel's free Hobby plan.
I am the Chair of an IEEE university student branch in Ecuador. I am personally developing an internal administrative portal to help me manage our student branch and its members more effectively during my term as Chair.
The portal would include:
Member authentication and login.
Internal documents and administrative resources.
Statistics and information about our technical chapters and affinity groups.
Tools to help manage the branch's activities and membership.
This is a volunteer project. I am not being paid to develop or maintain it, nobody else involved is being paid, and the portal will not generate revenue. It will not contain advertisements, paid services, or payment processing. Access will be intended for our branch members and authorized administrators.
IEEE is a non-profit professional organization, and our student branch activities are conducted on a non-commercial basis. The portal is intended solely to support our internal administration and student activities, not to sell products or services.
I have read Vercel's Fair Use Guidelines, which define commercial usage in terms of financial gain by people involved in producing a project. I also found a previous discussion in which Vercel staff clarified that a volunteer-built project for a non-profit organization could be eligible for Hobby.
Would this specific internal administrative portal be permitted under the Hobby plan, or does its use by an organization mean that we must use Pro even though it is entirely volunteer-run and non-commercial?
I would appreciate clarification from someone familiar with Vercel's current policy before deploying the production version.
Thank you for your time!
