i was playing minecraft and that cover me in debris achievement sound hit. it changed the entire weight of the moment.
it made me realize that we remember the sounds of our favorite games and movies more than anything else. A single tone can communicate success or tension better than any elaborate UI animation.
so, celebrating sounds on the web, i built sensory-ui.com - a semantic sound layer for shadcn/ui components.
what sensory-ui offers at the moment
- 17 semantic roles (tap, toggle, confirm, success, error)
- 5 categories, and 9 sound packs / themes
- fully accessible (prefers-reduced-motion & kill-switch)
- no side effects or asset bloat, everything on-the-fly
- completely open-source and hosted on Vercel (188 github stars, and over 10k site visits)
