My Vercel account was paused due to a DDOS attack last month by an OpenAI bot.

Hello Vercel community, I am writing this message to seek out some help and assistance. Last month one of my projects, called Namrolite, was spammed by an OpenAI bot that maxed out all my free resources, it used up my edge requests, fast origin transfer, function invocations and function duration units which lead to my account being paused. I noticed and added bot protection to all my pages and forms but my account still got paused. I am kindly requesting some assistance with this issue, or for some help unpausing it. I really love Vercel and it is just so bad that I can no longer use it and have my projects live/ active. I am humbly requesting for some help unpausing my account because my project was attacked by a bot and my actual usage is usually very low as it does not even often consume a third of my free resources. I hope to hear from you at your earliest convenience and send my kind regards.

The gptbot did an unfortunately heavy crawl of your site – this was the official ChatGPT crawler which is allowed by default so that Vercel websites show up in ChatGPT recommendations

If you go to your project → Firewall → Bot Protection and then block access to AI Bots outright, then this won’t happen again.

We’re unfortunately not permitted to unpause until your window is clear again, which will be around the end of the month when the usage rolls out of the 30 day window. At the moment, only vercel.com/help is able to do that

But if you block the AI bots on your projects I’ll see if I can get permission to unpause early for you because your usual traffic is well within Fair Use guidelines

It was indeed just so bad.

Thanks for the feedback.

I blocked that GPT bot from my project so I do not expect any other DDOS attacks from bots, I also blocked a few other bots.

I think I will just wait out those 30 days and request for my account to be unpaused after the 30 day window elapses. I appreciate your time and feedback.
