Nameserver & dns Propogation issue

i have a domain on dodaddy, when i add my domain on vercel then it give me dns record that i added on the godaddy dns record, then it start working but i need to work with subdomain that is not working, i search on several places then i found if i need to use the wildcard then need to change from dns to nameserver but at the move to nameserver then vercel show invalid configuration also on vercel not show the nameservers there

Hi @ramprasadya, welcome to the Vercel Community!

Are you following these docs: Adding & Configuring a Custom Domain?

I see you are using a wildcard domain and for that you must use Vercel Nameservers. Can you try following the docs with Nameserver method?

Yes i follow all the step of configuring domain and custom domain also i added nameservers according to docs but issue is still there,

In docs there is mention if i add a wildcard domain then nameserver will show on the vercel but i am not getting nameserver on vercel ,

I add all dns record that given by vecel then after sometime “qviq.io” and “www.qviq.io” become valid configuration but for custom domain when i add vercel nameserver all become invalid configuration

@anshumanb please let me know what i have to do next i am facing this issue from a long time

Hi @ramprasadya, from the second image I see the NS records are still pointing to a 3rd party ns66.domaincontrol.com as per Whois qviq.io.

I also see it says “Can’t edit” and “Can’t delete” next to the existing NS records, which might be the issue. I’d request you to contact GoDaddy for it or maybe any IT support person in your organization.

You may find https://www.godaddy.com/en-in/help/edit-an-ns-record-19213 article helpful.

@anshumanb this is default records of godaddy “ns66.domaincontrol.com “ once nameserver update then it will disappear, now what should you think i need to do ? help

If you have purchased the domain via 3rd party, I would suggest to add DNS records in the third party site. It would be much more helpful.

@avik-creator i have added vercel dns record on godaddy, Domain get verified but what about wildcard domain it not going to configure correctly even when i add the vercel default nameserver on godaddy then "qviq.io and www.qviq.io” both become invalid configuration, please guide me

I would suggest to through the docs that @anshumanb shared.

In this case you need to update your ns once. Cause only when you will update the Namespace then you only you can add the wildcard domain.

Now this query of yours: this is default records of godaddy “[ns66.domaincontrol.com](http://ns66.domaincontrol.com/) “ once nameserver update then it will disappear, now what should you think i need to do ? help

It will but it won’t affect your domain at all. You can still manage your domain via GoDaddy.

Hoping that it will be helpful. If you get stuck somewhere feel free to ping here again.

@avik-creator According to vercel docs when i will add wildcard domain then it will be automatically enabled for me, but its not happening with me.

Can you please solve this problem from your side if possible or can you please shedule a call so that i can solve this issue please !

Please update the namespace in your third party provider once and then check it once.

If it is not solved then you can schedule a call here.

Now sat with @ramprasadya and he did the nameserver thing again. Currently I have told him to wait for now for the nameserver to make the propagation.

Once it is done I think it should work but if it doesn’t then @anshumanb can help @ramprasadya out.

@jacobparis @anshumanb Its been

3 Hours and it still showing invalid configuration @jacobparis can you please help me regarding this

Hi @ramprasadya, as per https://dnschecker.org/#NS/qviq.io the NS propagation is not finished. The NS needs to point to Vercel in all regions for the error to go away:

There is nothing we at Vercel can do until the DNS records are set up correctly.

Thanks @avik-creator for helping a fellow community member :handshake:

Hey catching up, is it resolved? Cause I just saw it, and it is still not propagated is what I saw.

No its not resolved yet, according to @anshumanb i am waiting to complete propagation but i don’t know how long it will take

@anshumanb Now its more than 48 hrs and it still showing invalid configuration, please help me to resolve this issue

Hi @ramprasadya, I still see incorrect NS records instead of the Vercel Nameservers. There’s nothing the Vercel team can do since the domain is registered with another provider and the DNS records aren’t managed by Vercel.

Hi @ramprasadya, it’s been a while since you mentioned the invalid configuration issue. Have you been able to resolve it, or do you still need assistance with the NS records? Let me know if you need more details.
