Hello, I’m trying to transfer one of my domains purchased from Vercel to another developer on my team. Each time he enters the transfer-in code, we encounter the same error stating that the domain is already used by another team even though I have removed it for all my associated projects. Is there any way to successfully transfer the domain?
They shouldn’t need to use a transfer code for this if you purchased the domain from Vercel. Instead, you can follow these instructions to transfer ownership:
Hello and thank you . I’m trying to transfer a Vercel-registered domain from my account (Account A) to another person’s completely separate Vercel account (Account B). These accounts are not linked in any way - different emails, different users.
What I tried: Following the documentation at https://vercel.com/docs/domains/working-with-domains/transfer-your-domain, I:
-
Went to Domains tab → Selected my domain
-
Clicked the three-dot menu → “Move”
-
Manually entered the destination team slug (as suggested in the docs for transferring to non-associated accounts)
Problem: I get an error saying “moving to [slug] not allowed”
Question: The documentation suggests that entering the slug manually should allow transfers between completely separate accounts, but this isn’t working for me. What am I missing? Do both accounts need to be connected somehow first?
NB: Also transfer-in and out also not working
Any guidance would be appreciated!
I checked the logs. There’s a move request that you sent yesterday to move your .dev domain to someone else. They need to accept the request to move the domain to their account
Okay Thank you very much
