Need Registrant Access for Domain Purchased Through Planoly

Hi,
I need assistance regaining registrant-level control of my domain .
The domain was purchased through Planoly’s Creator Store, but Tucows’ provider lookup lists Vercel Inc. as the registrar. I do not have access to the Vercel account that manages the domain because the domain was registered under Planoly’s internal registrar account.
I am the person who paid for the domain and am the beneficial user of it. Planoly support confirmed that they cannot provide DNS access or an auth/EPP code, and also cannot connect the domain outside their platform.
I need one of the following so I can manage my domain:
A transfer of the domain into a Vercel account under my email,
OR
A registrant verification process so ownership can be moved,
OR
Direct DNS access so I can point the domain to my new website (Squarespace).
I can provide:
– Proof of purchase from Planoly
– Screenshots showing the domain under my subscription
– My ID or any verification required
I simply need a way to regain administrative control over the domain I paid for.
Thank you,

The domain troubleshooting guide can help with most custom domain configuration issues. You might be able to use that guide to solve it before a human is available to help you. Then you can come back here and share the answer for bonus points.

You can also use v0 to narrow down the possibilities.

Unfortunately Vercel does not have the right to seize control over a customer’s domain, even if you have made an agreement with them to purchase it

We do have a Transfer Out flow that the owner (Planoly) can use to transfer to an external registrar, but you will need to work with them to arrange that

Thank you for the clarification, Jacob — that helps.

The issue is that Planoly is refusing to initiate a transfer-out or provide any DNS access. They’ve explicitly stated that domains purchased inside their Creator Store are “owned by Planoly” and cannot be transferred or used outside their platform.

This puts me in a situation where:

  1. I’m the buyer and end-user of the domain,

  2. The registrar (Tucows) has confirmed I am not the listed registrant,

  3. Planoly is the listed registrant and they are refusing to take any transfer action,

  4. And I cannot update DNS because I have no access to the Vercel account Planoly used when registering the domain.

Tucows has already forwarded my request to the reseller (Planoly), but Planoly is still refusing to release or update the domain.

Since the domain was provisioned through Vercel’s system on Planoly’s behalf, can you escalate this internally so that:

  • someone at Vercel can contact Planoly through your partner/enterprise channel, and

  • confirm to them what steps they need to take to unlock or transfer the domain using Vercel’s “Transfer Out” workflow?

I’m not asking Vercel to seize the domain — only to facilitate communication so the listed registrant (Planoly) takes the required action.

Any guidance or escalation on your end would really help, because right now the reseller is blocking the domain from being used anywhere else by the person who paid for it.

Thanks again.
