I'm building Pepys, a transcription app for long audio and video recordings, including interviews, meetings and podcast backlogs.
You can upload a recording or paste a link, then work with timestamped text, add speaker labels, and export SRT/VTT subtitles. Pepys uses prepaid credits rather than a monthly subscription.
The web app runs on Next.js and Vercel. One design decision has shaped a lot of the work: a long recording should keep processing after you close the tab. Transcription runs as background work, and you can return to the job page when it's finished.
The harder UI problem is showing useful progress and explaining failures without making people wonder whether their recording has disappeared. I'm still working on that experience.
I'd welcome feedback on the upload-to-transcript flow, particularly from anyone building media-heavy apps on Vercel.
