Request to Reconsider Geo-Blocking of Syria

Hello Vercel Team and Community,

I hope this message finds you well.

I’m writing to kindly ask whether Vercel plans to reconsider its geo-blocking policy toward Syria in light of recent updates regarding U.S. sanctions. As you may know, there have been developments suggesting a partial lifting or easing of certain sanctions, which may open the door for platforms like Vercel to restore access to developers and users in Syria.

As a developer, I deeply value Vercel’s platform and what it enables in terms of fast, modern web development. However, users and developers in Syria continue to face technical blocks—such as denied access to deployed projects—due to the automatic OFAC firewall rule.

We understand and respect the need for compliance with U.S. law, but we would appreciate clarity on whether Vercel is actively reviewing its restrictions in light of any changes from the U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).

Restoring access would make a significant difference for many developers in the region who are eager to build, contribute, and grow within the global tech community.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to your response.

Warm regards,
Salah Khattab
