Request to Restore “Import Project” (ZIP) Functionality
Hello v0 Team,
I’m writing to request the restoration of the “Import Project” feature that allowed users to upload ZIP files directly from the v0 homepage.
Current Issue:
The “Import Project” option has been removed from the interface, leaving users with only GitHub integration or manual file dragging as alternatives.
Why This Feature is Essential:
- Local Development Workflow - Many developers work on local projects that aren’t ready or suitable for GitHub yet
- Quick Prototyping - ZIP upload was fast and efficient for testing ideas without repository setup
- Client Projects - Some projects contain sensitive information that cannot be stored on GitHub
- Accessibility - Not all users have GitHub accounts or want to create repositories for every experiment
- Time Efficiency - Extracting and dragging individual files is time-consuming for larger projects
Impact of Removal:
Removing this functionality has created friction in the workflow and made it harder to quickly iterate on existing projects. This feature was valuable and widely used.
Request:
Please consider restoring the ZIP import functionality. It was a core feature that differentiated v0 and made the platform more accessible.
