Saw a clean Figma typing app on X... so I built the real thing with v0 in hours

Ever dusted off a half-baked project idea and turned it into something cool? That’s what happened with my typing test app!

Some weeks ago, I was scrolling on X until I stumbled on @Ash_uxi post showcasing a typing test app created in figma, minimal, functional and clean. Of course I had to recreate it on v0, specially with the new Gemini preview model ready to flex.

Drew some inspo from Dribbble, fed it to v0 and boom, first iteration was stunning, no AI slop in sight. I tweaked the UI for simplicity, but then I struggled with the keyboard layout, the agent just simply wouldn’t create a proper QWERTY layout, so I had to map it manually with some small improvements on key press detection, and after a few rounds, it looked way better.

Topped it off with a Neon DB for a leaderboard, a quick landing page, giving it a proper name (rare for my experiments!), and theme switching.

Had a blast building it! check the template here. WPM and accuracy algo is solid enough to try it just for fun.

If you’re into quick AI experiments like this, follow me on X!
