I recently noticed an additional $20 charge on my Vercel invoice for Flat Rate CDN capacity.
The add-on was enabled unintentionally, and I wasn't aware that simply activating it would immediately result in a non-refundable charge, regardless of whether the capacity was actually used.
I contacted Vercel Support to request a waiver, explaining that this was an accidental activation and that I had no intention of using this add-on. Unfortunately, I was informed that the charge cannot be waived because the capacity is provisioned upon activation.
I understand that infrastructure provisioning involves costs, but I think there should be better safeguards against accidental add-on activation, especially when it results in an immediate charge.
A few things I'd like to see:
- A confirmation step before activating paid add-ons.
- Clearer warnings explaining that charges are non-refundable upon activation, even without usage.
- Better visibility into which paid resources are active and generating charges.
I'm a Vercel customer and genuinely appreciate the platform, but unexpected charges for services that were neither intentionally activated nor utilized are frustrating, particularly for developers and small teams.
I'd appreciate it if the Vercel team could reconsider this policy or at least provide a way to handle accidental activations.
Has anyone else experienced something similar?
