Vercel Free vs Pro: What Are the Limits for Hosting Large-Scale Apps?

If I host my app on Vercel, what are the restrictions or differences between the free plan and the Pro (paid) plan, especially if my app gets big (lots of traffic, users, or features)?

Hi @suheb, there are no technical restrictions on any plans except the Fair use Guidelines. So, if you’re aiming to make money from this project then you should opt for the Pro plan. Otherwise, if you are just experimenting then Hobby plan should be sufficient and you can monitor usage in your dashboard.

We’ve a detailed feature comparison list on the Find a plan to power your projects. page. You can also see the Limits imposed on each plan to see which one fits your needs.

I hope this was helpful.

Another difference to keep in mind is that if you go over the Hobby limits, your site will be paused (either until the next month when your limits reset or indefinitely if you’re WAY over)

If you go over the Pro limits, you have the option of either keeping this behavior (called Spend Management) or switching to on-demand pricing while your site stays live

Depending on the project, tons of traffic can either be great business or an expensive burden, so on the Pro plan you have the power to choose which one you want
