Hello Vercel Community,
We are using the official Vercel MCP upload_file tool to prepare files for a protected Preview deployment.
The tool returns:
isError: false
result: {}
However, the original HTTP status code is not exposed.
The Vercel REST API documentation states that successful file uploads may return HTTP 200 with an empty response body.
Vercel's automated Support assistant indicated that the MCP response represents a successful operation, but we could not find an official reference confirming this specific mapping.
Could someone from the Vercel technical team clarify:
- Does this MCP response guarantee a successful underlying HTTP upload?
- Is there official documentation describing this behavior?
- Can we verify the availability of an uploaded file by SHA-1 without uploading it again?
- Is there a way to retrieve the original HTTP status or request trace?
We have paused further uploads until the response semantics are clarified.
Thank you.
