I'm investigating an environment variable that appears in a Vercel Node.js Function runtime but is not configured in my project's environment variables.
The variable name is AWS_LAMBDA_TLS_PROFILE.
Could someone from Vercel clarify:
- Is this variable automatically injected by Vercel or its underlying execution environment?
- What component sets it, and what is its purpose?
- Is its value strictly non-sensitive configuration metadata, or could it contain credentials, secrets, or privileged key material?
- Is it expected to be present across Node.js Function runtimes?
I'm specifically trying to determine whether it is safe to exempt this exact variable name from an application-level security guard that rejects unexpected AWS-related environment variables.
I don't need its actual value, only confirmation of its provenance and security characteristics.
