Yet another update to the V0 UI - where is the Preview URL option gone?

Used to be able to generate a unique url for the browser
pls help

Yes, I pray this is a bug and not another terrible feature option where I can’t even preview a full page experience while building.
They are killing me.
v0 has gone from a product I love to getting worse and worse with every update.
The agentic results are also so much worse than what I was getting before.:pensive_face:

The “Open in New Tab” feature now opens a full screen chat preview instead of a direct link into the sandbox. This was a recent change for security reasons as too many people have had their accounts compromised by sharing the preview URL with its access token, despite the banner saying not to do that

As a hack for power users, you can get the original URL back by copying the preview iframe src, but you must keep that secure

To get a private URL you can share with other people, first enable git sync

I really can’t hide the level of disappointment I have right now in v0 - I do hope that someone somewhere is actually paying attention to the feedback coming in because at this point I can only see the need for a change of management.
I was the biggest fan, and was promoting to every single person I knew engineer or not to experiment and shift - and now I find myself struggling to even use the product.
I can only describe the last few months as a masterclass in how to lose user trust and destroy the relationship. I’m sure you know as a part of vercel to be a development platform people need to be able to rely on a certain amount of stability - to invest time into the platform.
I have managed to move about half of my projects out already and at this point will have to spend the next week just permanently closing down my use. I was the last one on my team hanging on, the other 7 already stopped using you.

From what I can see, the preview iframe src redirects back to the chat and isn’t usable.
Right now this means without the additional publish step, I can’t actually even preview in full screen or on a phone - this was one of the only advantages at this point over being in cursor, to make quick changes.
Rather than telling users up front, or solving the problem another way (you easily could have solved this without removing it), you simply axed a function from the middle of your UI. How could this have happened, along with forced agentic mode, a terrible pricing shift - who is leading on product??

I’m genuinely sad - I have never written like this in a forum in my life.

the problem is not only that, now all my signin logic and middleware no longer work with supabase, it worked before this update. I tried everything to fix it without any results, the cookies are not Set maybe because it run in a frame idk.
for oldest forks of my project I can still preview them using the old link and the signin is working fine there, but if i preview in the chat or the new tab frame it doesn’t work

I hope someone from the vercell team actually take this feedback forward and do something about it instead of just leaving you and many others on read.

For quick testing, it takes too long to publish a preview build imo. It also doesn’t work as nicely as it did with the preview URL (for example, you need to add the proto route manually, and it breaks when navigating - if I’m not mistaken). Furthermore, the sandboxed mode does not provide a proper full-screen view. The preview URL was super cool. I hope we can get it back in a secure version soon. v0 gave me a superpower. Now I’m having a very hard time using it.

100% agree with this. This has slowed me down considerably.

Ah, it being gone is a real shame.

It feels like this was primarily done to just make more money. The old URL didn’t even use the “v0.dev” domain.

Now with this new sharing mode Vercel can:

  • Show people that v0 is being used
  • Show the Chat UI, so everyone can see how easy it is to create something
  • Display a banner to tell users to sign up to fork the project
  • Show the sign up button

All this leads to more sign-ups and $$$. Or at least it’s an attempt.

Yeah, all this hid the problem, that preview Supabase Authentication is not working, but works when published, but of course one is not to know that.
