Why v0 Design Mode applies unsolicited changes to surrounding elements during targeted edits

Hi v0 Support Team,

I’m reaching out regarding a consistent issue I’ve been experiencing with Design Mode that’s significantly impacting my workflow.

Problem

When I apply targeted edits in Design Mode — for example, updating a single typography property like font size or weight on a specific element — v0 is applying additional unsolicited changes beyond what was specified. Even when I include explicit instructions such as “do not make any additional changes other than what’s specified in Design Mode,” the tool continues to modify elements, styles, or layout properties outside the scope of my edit.

Environment

  • Tool: v0 Design Mode
  • Project: UI dashboard (policy reporting/data visualization)
  • Instruction example: Single span element, font size 35px, Bold, Roboto — with explicit instruction to limit changes to that property only
  • Result: Additional styling changes applied to surrounding components

Questions

  1. Is this a known bug or intended behavior of the generative model underlying Design Mode?
  2. Is there a recommended workflow or instruction syntax for making truly isolated, single-property edits?
  3. Are there plans to improve Design Mode’s precision so it functions more like a property inspector rather than re-generating component styles broadly?

This is a critical workflow issue for professional design and development use cases where design system consistency is paramount. Any insight or guidance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time.

Best regards,

I’m sorry you’ve been seeing this, Jermaine. :frowning:

Do you have a chat link with an example, so I can pass this on as feedback?
