A lot of errors using V0, bad responses, unnecessary changes

I’ve been experiencing a lot of problems with V0. Sometimes behaves well but suddenly starts to make mistakes over and over. In a chat where it’s supposed that everything working fine (saved status in github), I ask for a small change and starts to make unnecessary changes to other files, breaking the functionality and showing new errors in those files or related ones. Of course I could make very small changes for myself, but I ask for them to keep in sync with my project files, and this is supposed to save me time (and money), which is not really happening.

Long chats: fork and lose context

Another error is, because of this behavior, chats become extremely long, wasting me credits with absolutely no value for what I get. When a chat is very long, the responses start to be slow, and if I fork the conversation, it loses some or all context and it forgets the instructions that I gave before.

Changed files or shorter versions

The last problem is that today V0 started giving me ridiculously short files that have nothing to do with the original file it’s supposedly versioning. This happened after I forked the previous chat. I asked it to review the original version, and it gave me the same response again—just an excerpt of the file as if it were new, which makes it inoperable.

Please V0 team help me with this because I have been patient but I spent valuable credits just trying to fix small problems.

Did you know there’s another category dedicated to v0 topics? A human should be here soon to help, but the answer may already be available even faster in one of these other posts.

Our docs are a great place to start.

We also have a walkthrough to help guide your workflow.

And these recordings can give you a look at v0 features and strategies in action shown by our Community:

i added a custom instruction in my profile to help avoid this. it trys to keep things simple and avoids adding features unless specifically requested.

I too get the short files - it sometimes deletes an entire unrelated file for no reason. no fix for that other than delete the chat back to when it didn’t have issuees.

I’ve been using it daily, and yesterday specifically I’ve come across a signifcant amount of errors. its taking wrong context, rewriting unnecessary code even with explicit asks to only focus on certain files

not sure what happened this week but it feels like a huge setback that’s cost me $10+ trying to have it behave the way it did before

totally agree. WAY worse.

So bad that I am going to take a break from it and hopefully when I come back it’s fixed.

Not sure if it’s possible for the v0 team to announce if there were any major updates to their model.

Personally, it would help me gauge if I need to change the ways I am prompting. Since what worked back then might not work now and having that alert will help me prompt differently rather than being frustrated $5 into prompting
