Import project from GitHub

I was super excited about the new two-way GitHub integration in v0, as I’ve previously created a project that I’ve put into GitHub, further developed in other tools, and now want to create a new project in V0 where I want to import my project from GitHub.

But I can’t find an option to do this - only to create a NEW GitHub project.

Isn’t it possible to just import my project from GitHub - and then contribute in V0 and commit to GitHub afterwards?

Did you know there’s another category dedicated to v0 topics? A human should be here soon to help, but the answer may already be available even faster in one of these other posts.

Our docs are a great place to start.

We also have a walkthrough to help guide your workflow.

And these recordings can give you a look at v0 features and strategies in action shown by our Community:

Hey, Emil!

Does this thread help?

It should! But I don’t get an option to connect to a current GitHub project at all - only to create a new branch.

Am I the wrong place?

You’re right! I tried to replicate and ran into the same issue.

If you head over to Vercel, can you see the v0 project from the dashboard? Can you then go on Settings > Connect your git repo?

Then from v0, you should be able to see that your repo is connected:

Yes - but the problem isn’t to connect to a repo.
The problem is that i can’t create a NEW one from V0.

Isn’t that possible?

Should I create an empty repository on github.com - and then connect it?

@pawlean any feedback on this?

Yes! Apologises for the confusion:

I’m sorry - I think I wrote it wrong. My problem is that I can’t connect to a project I already have on GitHub - NOT create a new one. Isn’t it possible to connect to an existing GitHub project with v0?

Ah, sorry for the confusion!

We published this thread earlier this week:

v0 currently only supports git sync with repositories created by v0. Overcoming this limitation is on the roadmap, but not here yet

Ah ok. Looking forward to it. Thanks!

I’ll mark my answer as the solution for now, but let me know if I can help with anything else!

Appreciate your patience here
