Hello Vercel Team!
I'm developing HandyHub 2.0, an ERP SaaS platform intended for small and medium-sized businesses in the future.
I currently use Vercel Hobby for an older prototype, and I'm starting a new project from scratch with a stronger focus on security.
Before deploying it, I would like to clarify whether my situation qualifies for the free Hobby plan.
My situation:
- I'm developing the application personally.
- Development is expected to take approximately 5–8 months.
- The application will be used exclusively by me for development and testing.
- There will be no real customers, companies, subscribers, or paying users.
- All testing will use fictional data.
- The application will not generate revenue during development.
- Deployments will be private and protected using Vercel Authentication.
- The project will not offer commercial services during this period.
- I intend to upgrade to Vercel Pro before launching commercially.
My questions:
- Can I use the Hobby plan for this private, non-revenue-generating SaaS prototype, even though I intend to commercialize it in the future?
- Can I continue using Hobby throughout development, provided there are no real users or commercial activities?
- At what point would upgrading to Pro become mandatory?
- Could a Vercel team member confirm whether this use case complies with the Hobby plan's terms?
I want to respect Vercel's policies while avoiding unnecessary hosting expenses during the development phase.
Thank you for your help!
