I need guidance on a domain ownership/DNS control issue.
Domain: rohitcareers.in
I hired a freelance developer to build and host my company’s website on Vercel. I have now transferred the domain into my own GoDaddy account (I am the registrant/owner). However, the developer still controls the Vercel project and DNS/nameserver configuration and is refusing to transfer access or release the domain.
Because of this, I cannot add/verify TXT records required to set up professional email (and I also need to update contact details on the site).
What is the correct process to:
Detach/remove a domain from someone else’s Vercel project when I can prove I own the domain, and
Add it to my own Vercel account and manage DNS records?
I’ve already contacted Vercel support and can provide proof of domain ownership and business identity if required.
@anshumanb Yes that’s correct. The domain is owned my me and is registerd by my godaddy account. I hired a freelancer who build my company website using vercel platform. Now he is denying to provide me the ownership which is required for me to buy a business email on the same domain although he has taken money from me and I have paid him for his service. I do have the tax invoice and my company is GST registered.
If you own and control the GoDaddy account you can always remove the TXT and A/NS records pointing to Vercel to detach the domain from any Vercel project.
Now he is denying to provide me the ownership which is required for me to buy a business email on the same domain
I don’t think this s related to Vercel. It seems like a non-issue if you control the domain on GoDaddy.
