From v0 Fan to Facing Farewell
Hi Vercel Team and Community,
I’m writing this post with a heavy heart because I’ve genuinely loved using v0 and have been a vocal supporter of Vercel. I’ve been following the company, the CEO, and the parent company on X, and was even excited enough to consider making my own custom t-shirt with the logo. For me, v0 wasn’t just a tool; it represented a vision and the potential to finally start my own business leveraging its capabilities.
The recent shift from a more predictable chat-limit based model (even if it had limits I rarely hit) to a usage-based token pricing for my $20 subscription has, unfortunately, been devastating for my aspirations. In just the first two days of the new pricing, I’ve already used nearly half of my credits ($8.60 out of $20) just to add a couple of features and fix multiple issues the model generated (and charged me for). At this rate, my subscription will be depleted in a matter of days, making it practically unusable for the development workflow I had, which previously felt almost limitless for my needs. The value I received for my subscription has effectively decreased by what feels like 30-50x.
This change has unfortunately made it impossible for me to pursue my dream of building my business using v0 with my current budget. It feels like the rug has been pulled out from under me. The enthusiasm and hope I had have been replaced with significant disappointment and frustration. It truly feels like the community of users who embraced the previous model, myself included, have been unexpectedly run over.
Therefore, with sincere regret, I’m currently planning to let my subscription expire at the end of this cycle and will likely be unfollowing Vercel and its associated accounts. This isn’t a decision I’ve come to lightly, as I truly admired the product and the company’s innovation.
I wanted to share my feedback directly and explain the impact these changes have had. I truly hope Vercel reconsiders the pricing structure to ensure it remains accessible and provides fair value for all users, including those with smaller projects or individual developers who saw v0 as an empowering tool. Should significant, positive changes be implemented during my current subscription month that address these concerns and restore the value I previously enjoyed, I would, of course, be open to reconsidering my decision.
