Exactly. It’s outrageous. We went from being able to build, iterate, and test freely, to now counting tokens like we’re defusing a bomb.
This isn’t innovation, it’s regression. No tool should punish its loyal users this hard overnight. The new system is completely unsustainable, especially for freelancers and small teams.
They need to roll this back or drastically change it before they lose everyone.
Let’s be realistic, v0 is probably over. They won’t go back, it’s too drastic change. They now are facing: a) keep in this obvious mistake path and pray for luck, or b) change back humbly, admitting doesn’t benchmarking (because its not a unique company that made this mistake) and focus on build a solid and user-first focus company.
Which one you think they go? No kidding, humility it’s very rare behavior in corporate world.
We are getting in the most competitive time of history. There will be no technology differentiation anymore, just brand loyalty. Who doesn’t get it fast, will lock in the chapter one history book of the new reality.
RIP, v0.
either they revert it back or watch the downfall of there company. It’s as simple as that. Like every other ai product that has gone to credit based messaging they will just lose at the end of the day. Hope the people workinga at v0 start looking into finding new jobs cause this company will be dead in the next month or so.
First – thank you all for your feedback; we understand your frustration, but I want to let you know we will not be reverting this change.
Our inference costs are based on input and output tokens. Trying to normalize to a single “token” or “message” shared across input and output is very difficult. To get around that, our competitors are just jacking up their pricing to .25c+ per message regardless of the request and response size (as a comparison, the median message on v0 today cost $.08 – more than 3x less). Those inflated per-message prices seem unfair to us.
We decided the most transparent, future-proof, reliable solution is to take inspiration from how frontier model labs charge for on-demand inference… with a credit pool and incremental burndown based on consumption. That’s what we’ve done with the new pricing model.
Since introducing the new pricing, we’ve added an option to toggle between different models. A v0-small model that has meaningfully cheaper token prices will be coming in the near future. We are shipping fixes to bugs and issues we’re hearing about in the community. We’re also working on an “unlimited” plan that allows close to unlimited generations for a (high) price. We are committed to being transparent about what things cost, and giving you the information you need to reduce/optimize your costs.
If you are encountering infinite loops or cases where you feel v0 is behaving worse than before, please let us know in a separate thread with a link to the chat and we’ll take a look
V0 team just released that they will not be reverting back to there subscription model. I am currently moving my projects and domains from this site. The start of the end has begun. I suggest everyone do the same before they start making you pay for that also.
If making profit is truly an issue because of the numerous amount of freeloaders are killing Vercel profit margins: maybe that’s where you should get a bit of slack instead of hitting loyal paid customers.
Most freeloaders will never pay anything anyway and those who cannot yet pay but would love to use V0.dev: make them do some tasks, like per example, doing free promotion for you guys to compensate and bring more paid users…as those who would love to make a dime before being able to pay would help you out.
You guys are about to pay a heavy price of sacrificing loyal paid customers that do care in a World where alternatives pops every new day and loyalty of customers are a thing of the past. Its a true tragedy that incompetence will once again be used as great academic lesson for business management class this time called: “What to not do in the new AI era…”
No wonder this kind of dumb idea happens in an industry that acted as parasite gatekeepers for the last 10-20 years on the back of unfulfilled innovation. Is that idea from newcomers? Its just sad to see staff that will most probably pay because of the wide distance between upper management and their clients reality. Ah, yes enterprise plans will save Vercel… (They forgot that we are now 2025!)
Ps: My subscription finished today and the 5$ you gave us was a great test to see that I will find other alternatives and be less lazy as I do with v0.dev. When management will get their business 101 lessons while losing paying customers: we wont come back as our loyalty will be pledge towards others who might be more desperate to keep us.
Regarding this price adjustment for V0 and the community’s response, it is quite disappointing. So much so that I am considering canceling my subscription to V0. I have always believed that Vercel could become a great company, but this strategy forces us to think that greatness is destined to elude Vercel because you do not value developers!!!
I have been a paying developer since the initial launch of V0 and have recommended it to several friends in China. Thanks to V0 for being there, it made me believe that deeply customized services definitely have a future. This price adjustment for V0 actually came alongside the launch of the API, which I was really looking forward to. However, I didn’t expect that I had to accept the price adjustment to use the API, so I clicked to accept it. But the nightmare started from there. I spent $20, almost all of it on the API. Because my use case is within Cursor, the input tokens are relatively large, which resulted in the cost of input tokens accounting for almost all of the expenses, while the output cost might not even reach $1. With this terrible strategy, I ended up spending $19 on input to get just $1 of output.
Within a few days, my $20 was completely spent. I couldn’t even use V0 anymore. This is an utterly wrong strategy. I completely disagree with mleiter’s response. I hope Vercel will reconsider their support for developers!
I built program using Next.js as the frontend and Python as the backend. Therefore, I use v0 to debug the frontend of my Next.js. The environment used is within Cursor’s IDE.
I believe tokens should be paid for their value.
$20====
API Request = 19.82 $
Message = 0.22
Total Count = 180 Times
After almost 1 yr of using v0, their new pricing is too overpricing, i have made a decision that i am shifting to another AI, kindly recommend me one of the best in next js
Me either, I spent $40 in credits today for an unfinished landing page.. whilst I used to spend $20 in a whole month to generate multiple full stacks. v0 is not viable to me anymore.
You can’t be serious. Last month I was able to work on my projects every day without any problems (pro plan). Then the day before yesterday I used up all my credits in one day and now I can’t do anything for the next 30 days? I canceled my subscription right away, I hope everyone else will do the same.
The fee policy change is a complete disappointment. Such a policy should not have been made and the old system should be returned immediately. When purchasing the Premium Plan on May 19, when I clicked on the update premium option on the top right, a pop-up screen opened. Here, it said 10-20x more messages in Premium as before, but I realized that the credit system was switched after my credit was finished. It is very wrong to write like this and switch to the credit system when purchasing Premium on the site. You are not updating the relevant texts under Premium on the site and are charging us exorbitant fees under the name of credit. I recommend that this problem be resolved and the old system be returned. If it is not returned, I have already canceled my subscription like many others.
1.5 $ for 1 request are u ok? $60 for air. also models begunto be stupid and concentrated on sir you wanna this shit or this shit 30 qestions before making job. it s not worth it . it is completly trash service.
Really, you guys ended V0.dev before you could send 20x more messages throughout the month, now you buy the premium plan and get a discount for each message, and someone else buys the plan and doesn’t even receive a signal
À la team Vercel : les crédits tuent la créativité.
Avant, on avait une limite de messages. C’était gérable. On pouvait corriger, expérimenter, itérer.
Aujourd’hui ? Chaque clic coûte des crédits. Et chaque erreur de v0 devient une facture.
v0.dev est brillant pour les idées, mais pas encore fiable pour du code 100% utilisable.
Alors pourquoi facturer chaque génération comme si elle était parfaite ?
➤ On passe notre temps à corriger.
V0 is useless now it cant execute a simple command
i gave it a prompt to add a simple form to my web application i spent nearly 5bux that he could not add a simple form to my website that can include full name and phone number if an AI cant do that what the hell is it then ?
also with that command the entire website reseted to the first prompt i sent in 2 weeks ago. this month is my last month in this website…
