Confused about v0 billing and team setup for existing users

Hi there,

I’m a manager at a startup where a few team members already use v0 and are paying for personal Premium ($20/month) plans.

I don’t have a plan yet, but we now want to move to a Team Plan ($30/user/month) so we can collaborate more effectively – share edit access, manage billing centrally, and work on the same projects.

But I’m confused about how this migration works:

  1. If we start a Team Plan, do existing Premium plans get canceled automatically, or would users be double-billed?
  2. Can we transfer existing projects from personal accounts into the Team account?
  3. Is there a clean way to consolidate without losing work or needing to re-pay?

We’d like to move quickly but don’t want to waste money or duplicate setups. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks so much!

In general, it’s safe to think of all plans in v0 as “teams”. Everyone gets a “personal team” which starts out on Hobby and can be upgraded to Premium and then any chats made in that team get the Premium benefits

When you purchase a Team plan, you get a new Team that allows inviting other users. These users do not need to have any existing subscription to join your team. All activity inside your Team plan will be billed to the team instead of their personal account

For example I pay for my own premium subscription which I use for my personal things, and I’m also on the Vercel Enterprise team. Any work I do in the Vercel team is billed to Vercel and does not consume my Personal usage.

Existing premium plans do not get canceled automatically when a user joins a team, however as long as they’re happy doing all their work under the new team they can safely cancel their personal subscriptions

Users can self serve transferring projects one by one or in bulk between teams they are on. They should do this before cancelling the premium sub. The bulk option is “Start transfer” on v0.app/chat/settings/workspace and this is also where they can adjust their default team to your new team plan once they’ve joined

Each user will need to initiate the transfer process themselves once they join the team. If they have any non-work related chats in their account they can triage and omit those at this point. There should be no double billing other than the overlap in time where both the Team and the Premium subscriptions are active for the user

Their existing premium credits are not transferred to the new team, so if you want the most cost optimal route, start your team subscription and have each member join the team once they’ve consumed their Premium credits for the month, at which point they can cancel their personal sub at a $0 balance
