v0 "Chat is Private" error locking owners out of their own chats

Affected Chat

  • Chat URL: https://v0.app/johncbutler/chat/eqx-corporate-offer-kQgDPCclHGK
  • Workspace: Personal (johncbutler)
  • Chat name: eqx-corporate-offer

Problem

I’m the owner of a v0 chat and am being locked out with the following error:

Error: Chat is Private
“Ask the owner to update this chat’s sharing permissions.”

This is blocking active development on a project with an imminent deadline. I made significant progress in this chat and can no longer access it. The lock screen appears despite me being the chat owner. This is identical to the issues reported in this thread and this thread.

Troubleshooting Done

  1. Verified I’m logged into the correct account and workspace
  2. Logged out and back in
  3. Cleared browser cache/cookies
  4. Tested in Incognito mode
  5. Confirmed this is my own chat under my username

Impact

This chat contains substantial work toward a time-sensitive project. I cannot view, continue, or recover my progress. Requesting urgent assistance — could someone from the engineering team please check if my account session or permissions need to be manually re-synced?

Thank you.

Same here.

Same here.

I’m the owner of the project/chat, and I’m seeing the same behavior: “Chat is Private. Ask the owner to update this chat’s sharing permissions.” In my case, the project and deployment are still live, but the chat access is broken, and I can also hit “Failed to submit message” in new or existing chats.

One useful data point: the same account can still access v0 from my phone, but my PC consistently fails. That makes this look less like a deleted project and more like a chat/session/workspace permissions bug.

Happy to provide timestamps, screenshots, workspace info, and affected chat URLs if that helps engineering narrow it down.

Hey, folks!

Are you still seeing this?

I think mine is resolved - I had named my team the same as something else (it’s in a chat somewhere) wanted to let you know I’m back up and running, but I’m a newb…so a good source for errors lol

Solution summary

To resolve this, check for naming conflicts in your workspace or team settings, as duplicate names can cause permission sync issues. If the error persists, contact Vercel Support at vercel.com/help to have the engineering team manually re-sync the chat ownership permissions.

Same issue: Chat is Private

Ask the owner to update this chat’s sharing permissions.

Is there any update on how to approach this?
