Hi there, I bought extra credits before but noticed they’re frozen when I’m on free plan. This doesn’t make sense at all and I wonder if I can get a refund for these credits.

You can open a Billing support case from Help to get your refund.
If you’ve already opened a case, rest assured our support team will help you as soon as they get to the ticket.

Sorry for the confusion here. You will be able to use these credits once your $5 monthly credits are consumed completely. Let me know if you need more help.
Edit: I just confirmed with our team that those credits cannot be used now. So, I request you to open a Billing support case from Help to get your refund.
